VectorUSA and the San Bernardino City Unified School District created a team of engineers, working hand-in-hand with the District Police Department to create a state-of-the-art Physical Security solution. Hundreds of HD IP-based cameras have been installed throughout the exterior of the 72 school campuses. The cameras were connected to servers running OnSSI video analytic software that made it easy for a single officer to monitor the network of cameras. Video was also fed to the District’s police cars so officers could see what was happening in real-time before they arrived at an incident. The system has saved the District millions of dollars in theft and vandalism losses while at the same time keeping students, teachers and staff safe on campus. Most notable was the stopping of copper wire theft from the school’s air conditioning units. That alone has reduced the District’s vandalism budget from $750,000 to less than $250,000 over the course of just a few months. VectorUSA continues to monitor and upgrade the Physical Security solution, keeping cameras working while at the same time, maintaining and upgrading the network.
