MAXIMIZING OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY AND SECURITY.

Ports and logistics are undergoing increasing scrutiny by commercial enterprises and government agencies to improve security and cargo tracking capabilities. They need faster global communications to store and route containers, while also being able to protect and preserve document trails for all operations. Emerging IT technologies are having an impact on optical scanning, digital video and radio frequency identification for asset management and remote access. VectorUSA provides expert port IT services to maximize operational efficiency and security for ports and terminals around the world.

“The uniqueness of Long Beach Container Terminal is that everything is an endpoint on a network.”
– Jeff Zukerman, VectorUSA’s executive vice president and co-founder.

Data Solutions. To facilitate process automation with technologies like Optical Character Recognition and Electronic Positioning Systems, ports and terminals need to install or upgrade network connections in areas of the yard which may not already have them. To get information where it needs to go, wireless networks are used to relay transaction messages from application servers to wireless clients across the terminal. LAN architecture is used throughout the terminal to ensure the proper routing and prioritizing of messages, prevent packet loss and to improve the quality of service. As part of our port IT solutions, we strategically design, install and integrate network equipment throughout the terminal, resulting in a drastic reduction in the time and cost of transmitting critical data to the terminal operating system.

Video Solutions. High definition video surveillance cameras are used throughout the terminals for optical character recognition, improved safety and security and reduced liability. VectorUSA installs IP video cameras, monitors and video walls, video management software, communications infrastructure, and network switches and cabling where necessary across the terminal.

Voice Solutions. VoIP is used at truck gates in the in/out lanes. Terminal operators use VoIP technology to communicate with truck drivers for processing transactions. Video conferencing is used for the entire facility to increase productivity and minimize downtime. VectorUSA designs, installs and maintains the technology used to deliver voice communications over IP networks.

Managed Services. The servers and network devices necessary for terminal operations and security can be monitored and supported remotely. Hundreds of servers at multiple locations around the world can be monitored from one location. VectorUSA designs, builds, implements and maintains modernized network infrastructure that allows communication with all terminal applications as part of our port IT solutions. New technology infrastructure includes construction of new data centers, configuration of core networks, wireless network analysis and troubleshooting, and network and systems monitoring.

“Ports and terminals are undergoing increasing scrutiny by global competition and government agencies to improve security and cargo tracking capabilities. They need faster global communications to store and route containers, while protecting and preserving document trails for all operations. The servers and network devices necessary for terminal operations and security can now be monitored from a single location.”
