The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Palm Desert Station covers the western half of the Coachella Valley’s unincorporated areas. The Sheriff’s Department contracts with the cities of Indian Wells, Palm Desert and Rancho Mirage to provide police services. The Department needed to upgrade its wireless infrastructure in its Community Room and Evidence Warehouse.
VectorUSA engineers began with mounting more than 400 feet of 3/4 inch EMT conduit utilizing a 25-foot electrical scissor-lift throughout the two buildings. Once the conduit was properly fitted to code, more than 400 feet of CAT-6 cable was installed. VectorUSA chose four Aruba Instant Access Point Series 135 APs. Three APs were mounted in the Evidence Warehouse utilizing ceiling mounts and wall data outlets. The fourth AP was mounted in the Community Room in the same manner. All APs were tested and passed all current NEC, NESC, Bicsi Telecommunications Distribution Methods Manual, BICSI Cabling Installation Manual, and the latest issue of the ANSI/TIA/EIA Standards, along with all state/local codes and ordinances.
The result was the immediate enhancement of wireless connectivity with handheld and other wireless devices throughout the areas in and near the Community Room and Evidence Warehouse.
