San Diego Unified School District

In November 2008, San Diego voters approved Proposition S, a bond issue to repair and improve the District’s 60 campuses and offices. Many of the District’s campuses were nearly 50 years old. Along with basic building maintenance and repair, the district with 130,000 students and more than 8,000 teachers and staff needed to hardwire the schools for a state-of-the-art Wi-Fi system, Internet and technology upgrades on every campus and office.

VectorUSA engineers designed, installed and configured a state-of-the-art Cisco Wireless LAN system on more than 60 campuses and District offices in compliance with District specifications.

VectorUSA also designed and installed communications pathways, cabinets, and copper and fiber cabling infrastructure as per District specifications. VectorUSA provided, installed and configured all Cisco routers and switches located in each campus Main Distribution Frame, Intermediate Distribution Frame, Local Distribution Frame, and Classroom Local Distribution Frame. All Virtual Local Area Network IP addressing schemes were implemented and tested. As a result, students and staff were able to easily access high-speed Internet in classrooms, libraries and labs. The District also exceeded its One-to-One Learning goals and enhanced the learning experiences of thousands of students.
